Lyle Lovett and Michael Martin Murphey to Headline Texas Flood Benefit Concert

Texas Country Legends Unite for Flood Relief
On July 27, 2025, two legendary Texas country music artists, Lyle Lovett and Michael Martin Murphey, announced that they will headline a special benefit concert, “Song in the Storm: Heart of Texas Flood Benefit,” to be held on August 12, 2025, at the iconic Paramount Theatre in Austin, Texas. The concert will raise funds for victims of the devastating floods that ravaged Central Texas earlier in the month. Proceeds will go directly to the Central Texas Flood Recovery Fund, aimed at supporting ongoing relief efforts in the region.
A Community-Raised Event
Murphey, known for his hit song Wildfire, has deep roots in the Texas music community and is no stranger to hosting charity events. This upcoming concert follows in the footsteps of last year’s successful wildfire relief event, where Lovett and Murphey both performed to raise money for fire victims. Lovett, an advocate for various charitable causes throughout his career, will also bring his signature blend of Americana and folk music to the stage, providing a night of heartfelt performances for a great cause.
In addition to Lovett and Murphey, the concert will feature performances by renowned musicians such as Andy Hedges, a beloved figure in the Texas folk scene, and Jimmie Vaughan, the guitarist known for his bluesy style. These artists will join forces to offer an evening of powerful music while giving back to the community.
Why the Event Matters
The Texas floods, which occurred in early July, caused widespread damage to homes, infrastructure, and local businesses. Many parts of the region remain submerged, with thousands of residents displaced and facing significant challenges. The benefit concert offers a beacon of hope, allowing locals and fans alike to come together in support of their community.
“The flooding has affected so many people, and we’re just doing what we can to help,” Murphey explained in a statement about the concert. “Music is a powerful tool for healing, and we hope this event can bring a sense of unity and relief to those in need.”
A Continued Tradition of Giving Back
The upcoming benefit concert is part of a larger tradition of country artists coming together for charitable causes in Texas. Both Lovett and Murphey have long been known for their commitment to philanthropy, with Lovett’s contributions going beyond music, including his active participation in supporting rural communities and disaster relief.
The concert will offer ticket holders a chance to witness two of Texas’s greatest music icons perform live while contributing to the important cause of flood recovery.
