Kate Hollowell to Direct ‘Something Murdered’ for Amblin Entertainment

Kate Hollowell, a celebrated creator known for her Sundance award-winning work, has been appointed to direct the film Something Murdered for Amblin Entertainment. The screenplay, penned by Liz Benham, was acquired by Amblin last year and is based on an original idea.
Production Team and Development
As part of her role, Hollowell will not only direct but also partake in rewriting the script to tailor it for a feature film format. The production is being led by Amblin in collaboration with Chad Villella, while Benham will be joined by Tyler Gillett and Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin in executive producing roles. Specific plot details about the film remain undisclosed at this stage.

Hollowell’s impressive portfolio includes the acclaimed short film Say Hi After You Die, which she both directed and starred in. This film garnered the Sundance Short Film Jury Award and received nominations for other prestigious accolades including the SXSW Grand Jury Prize and the Best Director Award at HollyShorts. In addition to her filmmaking skills, she is also recognized as a prominent commercial and music video director with nominations for honors such as the Cannes Lion Young Director Award. Liz Benham comes from a background of creating her own sketches and short films, which have attracted over 15 million views. Her comedic work has been highlighted in various publications including HuffPost Comedy, Glamour, and HelloGiggles, and has featured on television shows such as Right This Minute (ABC) and The Daily Buzz (Hulu). Benham is a graduate of the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) Improv program and has expanded her creative horizons into feature-length films and television writing.
