Synopsis
The narrative centers around Violet, a widowed mother portrayed by Meghann Fahy, who is navigating the complexities of dating once again. On what should be a promising first date at an upscale restaurant, she encounters a charming suitor. However, the evening swiftly spirals into chaos as Violet begins to receive a series of unnerving anonymous messages that challenge her composure and safety.
Creative Vision
Director Christopher Landon articulated his approach to storytelling during a recent panel discussion, stating, “One of the things that I really focused on was trying to tell the story from a very personal, subjective point of view. I really wanted the movie to be Violet’s point of view, and so there’s a lot of stylization in the movie. We use a lot of different lighting cues and camera effects to really put the audience inside of Violet’s head, which I think does help sort of raise the stakes and bring a lot of suspense to the movie,” as reported by Deadline.
Panel Discussion at SXSW
Following its premiere, ‘Drop’ was featured in discussions at the Deadline Studio during the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival, held from March 7 to 10. The film’s cast and creators, including actor Meghann Fahy and co-star Brandon Sklenar, had the opportunity to engage with audiences and share insights about their creative processes and experiences leading up to the festival in Austin, Texas.
