Netflix has announced a spin-off series titled Hawkins: The Next Generation, set in the Stranger Things universe. This new series will center around a group of teenagers who encounter mysterious phenomena in the familiar small town of Hawkins while also delving into the legacy left behind by the original cast.
The Duffer Brothers, creators of the beloved Stranger Things, are on board as executive producers for the spin-off, and Shawn Levy will direct the pilot episode. Ross Duffer emphasized that this project represents a “reinvention” rather than just a continuation of the original series.
This announcement comes as the original Stranger Things prepares to air its final season in 2025, leading to heightened anticipation among fans regarding the expansion of the show’s universe through new characters and storylines. Production for Hawkins: The Next Generation is expected to commence in mid-2025, aiming for a release in 2026.
