Michael B. Jordan’s production company, Outlier Society, has secured the film rights to The House of Last Resort, a compelling horror novel penned by acclaimed author Christopher Golden. This move signals a significant step in feature development, adding to Outlier’s growing portfolio.
About the Novel
Published in January by St. Martin’s Press, The House of Last Resort follows an American couple who move to a picturesque hill town in Sicily. They discover that the local mayor is selling abandoned properties for just one Euro to attract foreigners and rejuvenate the community. However, the seemingly idyllic home they acquire harbors a sinister secret, featuring hidden catacombs, eerie whispers, and a dark past.
Collaboration with Christopher Golden
Christopher Golden, a celebrated author recognized with Bram Stoker and Shirley Jackson Awards, will also adapt the novel for the screen. Golden’s previous screenwriting credits include Hellboy: The Crooked Man, showcasing his capability in translating literary works into visually captivating narratives. Alongside Jordan, Elizabeth Raposo will produce for Outlier Society, collaborating with Golden and Pete Donaldson of Donaldson Media.
