Playboi Carti has recently released his highly anticipated album, Music, over four years since the debut of his previous project, Whole Lotta Red. During this period, the Atlanta-based artist hinted at various projects, including a deluxe version of Whole Lotta Red and another album titled Narcissist. Confirmation of Upcoming Album: Baby Boi
In a recent interview with Complex, Swamp Izzo, a frequent collaborator of Carti, provided exciting news about a follow-up to Music. The forthcoming album, named Baby Boi, has reportedly already been completed.
“Ready. Done,” Izzo confirmed when asked about the status of Baby Boi.
Izzo elaborated that Carti has recorded between 50 to 60 new songs intended for this project. However, Izzo was cautious about stating whether Carti was fully satisfied with the tracks, suggesting that the project might not yet be completely finalized.
Insights into the Recording Process of Music
Izzo also shared insights about the production timeline of Music, revealing that the creative process continued right up until the album’s release. Initially set to launch at midnight, the album’s drop was rescheduled at Carti’s request, pushing it to 3 AM.
“The album was done, supposed to drop at midnight. [Carti’s] like, ‘Nah, Swamp, just go in the other room and give me some more energy… We’re going to drop at 3 AM’,” Izzo recounted.
Carti’s determination to enhance the album’s excitement led to recording sessions that took place even up until the scheduled release. Izzo stated,
“‘We just trying to make the album more and more exciting. So we just cramming. We recorded all the way up to the album actually came out. So when they dropped at 7am, we were still in the studio, on everything I love.'”
