Exploring the Creative Vision Behind ‘HOTBOX’
Director Elias Talbot recently shared insights on his collaboration with artist Montero, particularly focused on their latest project, the music video for “HOTBOX.” In an exclusive email to The FADER, Talbot reflected on their previous work together and the synergy they developed as a team.
A Focus on Simplicity and Vision
Talbot emphasized his approach towards the video, stating, “I wanted to lean into the simplicity of a white backdrop and really allow for his personality to shine through and not be overshadowed.” This choice aimed to spotlight Montero’s character, allowing the artist’s essence to captivate the audience. The initial inspiration stemmed from Montero’s desire to incorporate pink elements, which Talbot successfully integrated into a cohesive narrative.
An Uncommon Yet Spectacular Location
During the filming process, the duo chose Vilnius, Lithuania, as the backdrop for the video. Talbot expressed his astonishment at the professionalism of the local crew, noting, “I have shot all over the world, and I was blown away by the professionalism and artistry that this whole crew brought to our vision.” This level of collaboration greatly contributed to the success of their project.
Upcoming Projects
While a full project announcement has yet to be made, fans can look forward to more music from Montero. The video for “HOTBOX” is available for viewing, alongside new tracks such as “DREAMBOY,” “BIG DUMMY!,” “SWISH,” and “RIGHT THERE!” These releases continue to demonstrate Montero’s artistic evolution and Talbot’s directorial prowess.
