Robert Downey Jr. is set to return to the role of Sherlock Holmes in a reboot of the beloved detective franchise, with Phoebe Waller-Bridge as co-writer and co-star. Warner Bros. announced the project during an industry panel, indicating that it will take the series in a new and bold direction.

Guy Ritchie will direct this installment, which aims to provide a sharper, more comedic tone. Waller-Bridge will play a brilliant rival to Holmes, who also becomes a reluctant ally. Downey Jr. expressed his excitement for the film, describing it as a fresh and invigorating take on cherished characters.

Filming is slated to begin in early 2025, with the film expected to be released around Christmas 2026. Anticipation is already building among fans, particularly regarding the chemistry between Downey Jr. and Waller-Bridge and the witty dialogue that Waller-Bridge is known for.

This reboot aims to rejuvenate the iconic franchise with a contemporary twist while still honoring the classic elements that fans love.
