Playboi Carti’s ‘MUSIC’ Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard 200
Record-Breaking Launch
Playboi Carti’s latest album, MUSIC, has made a spectacular entrance by debuting at the top of the Billboard 200. According to Billboard, the album achieved sales of 298,000 equivalent album units in its opening week, making it his second consecutive studio album to debut at No. 1, following the success of Whole Lotta Red in 2021.
Streaming Success
MUSIC stands out not only for its album sales but also for its streaming performance. Billboard highlights that it recorded the most impressive opening week for a rap album in 2025, as well as the highest streaming figures for the genre since Drake’s For All the Dogs was released in 2023. This makes MUSIC the second-best-selling album of the year so far, surpassed only by The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow.
Collaborations and Production
Released in March, MUSIC was crafted in collaboration with noteworthy producers including F1LTHY and Cardo Got Wings. The album features contributions from several prominent artists, such as Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, and Future, enhancing its appeal across diverse listener demographics.
Live Performances
Following the album’s launch, Carti took to the stage for a headlining show at Rolling Loud California, further energizing his fanbase and showcasing the new material from MUSIC.
