Luna Vintner works across film, theatre, and original music as a multidisciplinary performing artist based in New York City. Her innovative approach blends genres to create art that speaks for itself, reshaping the creative landscape and making artistry more inclusive and emotionally resonant.

A Journey Fueled by Curiosity and Passion

Luna Vintner, born Dolunay Kocabag, is a Turkish-born, legally blind artist whose multidisciplinary work spans acting, music, and advocacy for accessibility in the arts. Diagnosed with optic atrophy and congenital nystagmus, resulting in severe vision loss, Luna’s personal experiences as an immigrant with a disability have significantly shaped both her artistic vision and worldview.

Growing up in Istanbul, Luna was initially drawn to a career in criminal psychology after completing her undergraduate studies. However, she defied the societal expectations placed on blind individuals and chose to pursue the arts instead. Determined to follow her passion, Luna moved to New York City and earned a scholarship to The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Reflecting on her journey, she shares, “In acting, you depend on people choosing you, but in choosing art, I’ve never felt more agency in my life.”

Luna faced significant mental health challenges during her high school and college years, but her resilience and unwavering passion for the arts led her to establish a unique and powerful voice in the creative world.

Breaking Barriers: Luna’s Acting and Music

One of Lunas standout achievements is her leading role in A Scream in the Dark, a Lifetime thriller filmed in Los Angeles, set to release on Hulu in mid-2026. The film explores blindness and friendship within the blind community, providing Luna with an opportunity to bring authentic, lived experiences to her portrayal. Collaborating with other blind and low-vision actors grounded the performance in deep emotional truths, highlighting Lunas exceptional acting abilities.

In addition to her acting, Luna is also making a mark in the music world with her cinematic pop compositions, characterized by minimalist, piano-led structures and emotionally driven storytelling. Her song In Your Heart captivated listeners with its raw, vulnerable sound, and her latest single Hands has garnered early praise for its depth and authenticity, further establishing her as a multifaceted artist in both acting and music.

Luna’s innovative approach to blending acting, music, and advocacy has earned her recognition as the Best Emerging Multidisciplinary Artist of 2025 in New York City by the Evergreen Awards. This prestigious honor celebrates her groundbreaking work, making her one of the most exciting figures in contemporary art.

Advocacy Through Art: Making the Arts Accessible for All

At the core of Luna’s work is her commitment to accessibility in the arts. As a legally blind artist, she works as a quality control specialist for audio-described media and serves as a consultant and educator on accessibility in the performing arts. Luna has partnered with organizations like Dance is Life, A.R.T. in New York, and Lincoln Center, helping them design arts programs and performances that cater to individuals with disabilities. Her initiatives, such as offering audio descriptions and sensory-friendly programming, are expanding access to the arts for all.

“My work is about telling stories that connect us all, whether through music, acting, or movement,” Luna explains. Her advocacy challenges traditional narratives surrounding disability, aiming to create a more inclusive and realistic representation of disabled individuals in the arts.

Crafting a Unique Identity Through Multidisciplinary Art

Refusing to limit herself to a single artistic discipline, Luna has crafted a distinctive voice in the entertainment industry. Her work, whether through acting, composing, or creating interdisciplinary performances, reflects her background in psychology and her lived experiences as a blind artist. Luna’s creations prioritize emotional honesty over spectacle, aiming to connect deeply with audiences and spark meaningful conversations.

Through her acting, music, and advocacy, Luna is redefining what it means to be a multidisciplinary artist, offering a platform where accessibility, emotional depth, and artistic expression can thrive.

Luna Vintner: An Artist to Watch

Luna’s forward-thinking approach to blending disciplines, her focus on accessibility, and her commitment to emotional authenticity are positioning her as a trailblazer in the contemporary arts scene. With upcoming performances, workshops, and new music releases planned for 2026, Lunas work continues to expand across disciplines and institutions.

In January 2026, Luna will lead a workshop at the New York Physical Theater Festival, where she will collaborate with dancers through live, improvised music, adding another exciting chapter to her evolving artistic journey.
