Movement, Detroit’s annual house and techno festival, announced Wednesday (December 11) its first phase lineup for May’s event.
Leading the way will be John Summitt, who will play the festival’s closing set on Monday 26th May, British favorite Jamie XX and techno titan Anfisa Letiago, who will perform in one of their hybrid live sets. Performing are techno pillar Carl Cox, British drum and bass bosses Chase & Status, Detroit legend DJ Minx, up-and-coming British producer Sammy Virge, Detroit trio Hitech, and Palestinian techno artist Sama. Abdulhadi and many more.
Summit said in a statement: “We are thrilled to be able to perform at Movement for the third time and close out the festival this time.” “I’ve been attending as a fan for years, and the energy and support this city and crowd brings is always special. It’s an honor to be a part of such a legendary event.”
Movement 2025 will be held from May 24th to 26th at its longtime home in Detroit’s Hart Plaza. Tickets are on sale now.
The movement is produced by Detroit-based Paksahau, which took over the festival in 2006. The event is known for its focus on the city’s homegrown techno genre, along with house music, and has long championed rising stars in each genre, especially local ones.
“One of the great things about[Paxahau’s]culture is that we’re focused on direction, not goals,” Pacahaw founder Jason Fuvale told Billboard in 2023. It’s never about “you have to accomplish this” or “you have to have this.” I want to preserve it for the future. ”
