Jim Carrey has retracted his comments about retiring from acting, insisting that he will step away from the public eye after Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
Just two years after announcing his retirement, Carrey reprized his role as Doctor Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
“I can’t be specific about these things. I said I wanted to retire, but I think I was talking more about Power Rest,” Carey told ComicBook. “Because when you come up with a good idea or a group of people who are really fun to work with, things tend to change quickly.”
In 2022The Bruce Almighty star was promoting the Sonic the Hedgehog sequel, but said he was retiring from acting.
“I’m taking it pretty seriously,” he said in an interview with Access Hollywood at the time. “It depends. If an angel brings me some writing written in golden ink and tells me that it will be of great importance to people, I may continue down that path. But I will take a break. Yo.”

When asked by The Associated Press about the 2022 comment at the London premiere of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 on Dec. 10, Carrey said, “That may have been an exaggeration.”
Carrey also told ComicBook that he would be open to reprising his role from How the Grinch Stole Christmas and welcomed the idea of making a sequel to The Mask.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be released in U.S. theaters on December 20th. In the third installment of the action-adventure film, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles face off against a mysterious enemy known as Shadow the Hedgehog, and are forced to form an unlikely alliance with the villain Dr. Robotnik. .
