Emilia Perez emerged as the standout winner at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, taking home four awards for her film, including Best Film, Best Drama, Best Film in a Language Other than English, and Best Original Song for “El Mal.” Zoe Saldaña was recognized for her supporting role in a motion picture.
In television, “Shogun” dominated the awards, winning Best TV Series and taking home acting awards for Anna Sawai, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Tadanobu Asano. The ceremony, hosted for the first time by Nikki Glazer, took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
Conversely, the film “Anora” experienced a disappointing night, failing to win any of its five nominations. Similarly, “The Bill Murder Case” in the TV category did not secure any wins out of four nominations.
“Wicked” was acknowledged for its film and box office success, following its nomination alongside “Barbie,” which had won the category the previous year. Both films’ soundtracks achieved remarkable success on the Billboard 200 chart.
Other notable awards included Best Original Score for “Challengers,” awarded to Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, marking their third win in this category. Demi Moore received the Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy award for her role in “Substance,” while Ali Wong earned recognition for her Netflix comedy special, defeating host Nikki Glazer.
“Flow” won the title of Best Animated Feature, and though all winners were present for their awards, Jeremy Allen White from “The Bear” was absent.
The ceremony also honored Viola Davis with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for her film career and Ted Danson with the Carol Burnett Award for television achievement. Executive producers Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner helmed the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, which is produced by Dick Clark Productions, a subsidiary of Penske Media Corporation.
