'the Challengers' Soundtrack Rightfully Wins Golden Globe Award

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross recently secured their third Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score with their work on the film *Challengers*. The soundtrack has been described as a lively and provocative mix, drawing influences from various composers and genres, including notable names like Volker Bertelmann and Hans Zimmer.

The film, which has made waves since its summer 2024 release, features a techno-inspired score that accompanies its plot centered around complex relationships and rivalries among three friends—Art, Patrick, and Tashi, played by Mike Feist, Josh O’Connor, and Zendaya, respectively. The story incorporates themes of eroticism and sport, with Reznor and Ross citing ’90s rave music and Berlin techno as significant influences on their composition.

According to Ross, the film’s director, Luca Guadagnino, conveyed his vision for *Challengers* cryptically in an email, highlighting the film’s steamy nature. The soundtrack’s energetic spirit is further complemented by an official remix from dance producer Boyz Noize that adds to its club vibe.

Reznor and Ross, known for their work with Nine Inch Nails and previous film scores for *The Social Network* and *Soul*, continue to receive recognition for their contributions to cinema. Their latest Golden Globe win positions them as potential contenders for the upcoming Oscars, underscoring the anticipation surrounding their work.
