SZA has released the much-anticipated deluxe version of her 2022 album, SOS, titled SOS Deluxe: Lana. This new edition consists of 15 tracks and features a collaboration with Kendrick Lamar on the song “30 For 30.” Fans can listen to it on streaming platforms like Apple Music and Spotify.
The name “Lana” was initially hinted at following the release of SZA’s second album, SOS, in December 2022. The title is derived from SZA’s childhood nickname, with her real name being Solana Imani Rowe. During a concert in New York City in September 2023, SZA explained that the deluxe version represents a significantly different musical experience and recounted her plans for its release.
Originally scheduled for launch in the fall of 2023, the project faced delays, with the release of a new track called “Saturn” postponed until February 2024. In November 2024, SZA shared her ongoing exploration of the project in an interview with Vogue, mentioning that her music stems from a more optimistic and anxious place. Recently, she announced a release date of December 20 for Lana, along with a trailer featuring Ben Stiller and a new track called “Drive.” The cover art features SZA represented as an alien creature in streetwear.
Additionally, SZA collaborated with Kendrick Lamar on two songs from his surprise album, GNX, titled “Luther” and “Gloria.” She is also set to join the Grand National Tour next year, continuing her active presence in the music scene.
