For a fast-paced co-op experience, Killing Floor 2 is one of the best zombie killing games on the market. It may not seem like your typical holiday game, but what better way to let out all the frustrations of being in a house that’s too small and too crowded? When family members take out their anger on the zombies, the zombies can stop fighting each other. The game also gets an annual winter update, which makes the map more festive so you can get in the holiday spirit.
This first-person shooter game allows up to six people to play together online to battle hordes of zombies known as Zed. They aren’t just the slow limping type. Some are fast, others brutally strong, and many are enhanced with deadly weapons such as hand-held grinders or devastatingly long blades. This can be a bit scary, so it’s probably best suited for teenagers and older.
There are several classes for each player to choose from, including a Medic who can heal teammates, a Firebug who uses a flamethrower, and a Support who provides ammo to allies. Working together and creating a synergistic team is essential, especially when the game is difficult. Each player can also earn experience points during rounds of play to level up their class and earn in-game money to purchase additional gear, providing a great sense of progression.
Unlike Call of Duty’s Zombies mode, Killing Floor 2 offers short games that last a set number of rounds, so it’s great for a quick play before dinner or in the morning on a holiday before everyone wakes up and opens their presents. Perfect for. If everyone is taking a nap after filling their bellies, if you can fight off sleepiness, try endless mode and see how far you can go.
Killing Floor 2 is not cross-platform, so everyone must be on the same system to play it.
